BECAUSE TONY STARK NEEDS A ROOMBA.

Well, me and
kijikun got to twittering about sweeping and Tony Stark and robots which of course led to a roomba. And how Tony would totes have one and it would be like his pet and he'd teach it tricks and his friends would think that Tony went a bit batty. But the roomba would love him and it would be adorable.
Which of course led to this:

And then I wrote a little ficlet:
Peter heard Tony's laughter before he even entered the room. First there was a strange whirring noise, then a thump, and Tony would cackle. There was no other word for the sound. Peter was curious, but also worried. He was afraid to find out what Tony found that funny.
Tony was sitting on the counter in the kitchen, staring at the floor. His feet absently kicked against the cabinets. Rolling around on the floor seemed to be... a roomba?
“Tony, why do you have a-” Peter stopped talking when the roomba bumped into a chair and Tony just snickered. He finally looked up at Peter.
“Why do you have a roomba?” Peter asked. “Couldn't you just make one?”
“Rhodey got it for me as a joke gift. And, it's just so cute I can't help using it. It's too bad the batter doesn't last longer...”
Peter grabbed his soda and wandered away before he had to listen to Tony rant about commercial power-sources. He still remembered the rant Tony had after using the wiimotes.
Peter didn't notice anything for a few weeks, except that the floor was much cleaner. He didn't question it until he ran into the roomba, climbing down the stairs.
The week after that he saw something glowing across the floor when he got up to get a midnight snack. When he turned out the light, the roomba seemed to scurry under the table like a cockroach. It also had an arc reactor. Peter was too tired to think much of it.
Over the next week, Peter paid more attention to it. When Tony was home, it seemed to follow him around like a puppy. Tony even treated it like one, tossing bolts and nuts for it to pick up. When Tony was not around, it seemed to sulk- as much as a robotic vacuum could- and circled in the areas where Tony usually hung out.
Peter could not stop himself, he tossed some cheerios across the room. The roomba chased them.
So, yeah. In my mind, Tony has a faithful roomba companion.
